Why is conformity so (subtly) emphasized in this country?

I think the primary problem with people disrespecting each other in this country is the fact that people realizing you can't box everyone off into one imaginary category. People are so intimidated to deal with anything different, that they shun people with different ideas. The problem is the idea of conformity and spitting on anything outside the box. People fail to realize it doesn't make life any easier. If anything, it makes it more complicated for otherwise really mundane and managable reasons. People act tough waving the flag but this has to be the biggest batch of cowardly p*ssies when it comes to simple people skills, nevermind fighting a war with guns and modern technology. (Don't make this question about the troops, either.) At least people in other countries are fighting and dying for what they believe in. We're in our own little bubble, pissing on anything outside of it. We don't appreciate sh!t, and that's the problem. Anyone agree. No flag burning required.
