What kind of strat do I have?
Your guitar is most likely a "Signature Series" Fender, probably a 1990 model (see a href="http://www.fender.com/support/articles/u-s-instruments-product-dating" rel="nofollow"http://www.fender.com/support/articles/u…/a ). You can contact Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com , to confirm the date-of-manufacture. It is not unusual to see the outer contours of the headstock decals on the Special Edition and Vintage Reissue instruments; the original Stratocasters (and other Fender models) did not use heavy enough layers of lacquer applied over the identification decals, where the finish could be then polished smooth while leaving the labeling intact (like most headstocks manufactured today). My MIA '57 Reissue Stratocaster is the same way; personally, I think it looks right at home with the traditional sunburst body and maple neck. Best regards, Dana
