My micro innovations mouse?

for some reason my mouse started becoming erratic and not properly working... the red laser light keeps on blinking... so I changed the batteries..and restarted my pc.. then now.. it's not working... what did I do? DId I corrupt the software for this mouse?? or is this mouse have a short life??
